Woody Fragrances
Woody fragrances are characterized by their warm, rich, and earthy aroma, often evoking the natural smells of the forest or a walk in the park. The family is typically divided into three sub-categories: dry woods, mossy woods, and wet woods. Dry woods are characterized by their sharp, dry and powdery notes. They often feature notes of sandalwood, cedarwood, and patchouli. These scents are typically used in men’s fragrances but can also be used in women’s perfumes for a more unisex appeal.
Mossy woods are more green and earthy in their aroma. They typically feature notes of oakmoss, vetiver, and tree moss, and are often used as base notes in fragrances to add depth and complexity. They give a more masculine and classic edge to a perfume and some of the best examples of mossy wood notes are found in fragrances that feature notes of leather. Wet woods are the most contemporary and fresh interpretation of the woody family. They feature notes of water, citrus, and aquatic elements, blended with the traditional woody notes to give a more modern and refreshing feel. These scents are typically used in unisex fragrances and are popular for their unique and refreshing aroma.
